Account Deletion

Delete Your GyanMul Account

This page explains how to request deletion of your GyanMul account and data, in compliance with Google Play's User Data policy, and lets you submit a deletion request directly.

How to request deletion

You can request deletion of your GyanMul account in any of the following ways:

  • In the app: open Settings → Account → Delete Account, if this option is available for your role.
  • Ask your school administrator to remove your account — schools provision and can remove individual staff, student, and parent accounts directly.
  • Submit the request form on this page, and our team will verify your identity and process the request.

For any of these, we verify the request is genuinely coming from the account holder (or an authorized school administrator) before deleting anything, to prevent malicious or accidental deletion.

What's permanently deleted

Your profile (name, contact details, credentials), uploaded photos and documents, and messages are permanently deleted from active systems.

What may be retained

Academic and financial records a school is legally required to keep (e.g. results, fee history) may be retained in restricted or anonymized form, as required by law or the school's own record-keeping obligations.

Retention period

Deleted from active systems within 30 days of a verified request. Encrypted backups containing your data are purged within 90 days on our normal backup rotation.

What gets permanently deleted

  • Your account credentials and login access
  • Your profile information (name, contact details, profile photo)
  • Photos and documents you uploaded (e.g. homework attachments), except where retained as part of an academic record the school must keep
  • Your direct messages sent and received through GyanMul
  • Device and notification tokens associated with your account

What may be retained, and why

GyanMul is used by schools to maintain records they are often legally or administratively required to keep — academic transcripts, examination results, and financial records tied to fee payments are examples. Where this applies, we retain the minimum necessary data, in a form restricted from general access, rather than deleting records your school has an independent obligation to keep. This mirrors how a school would retain a paper student file even after a student graduates or transfers.

How long the process takes

  • We confirm and begin processing a verified deletion request within 5 business days.
  • Deletion from active, production systems completes within 30 days of verification.
  • Residual copies in encrypted backups are purged within 90 days, as part of our normal backup rotation — this is a technical limitation of how backups work, not an extended retention of your active data.

Prefer email? Send your deletion request directly to info@gyanmul.com from your registered account email, including your school's name.
