Account Deletion Policy
Last updated: August 3, 2026
This page explains how to request deletion of an individual account or a school's entire GyanMul account, and what happens to the associated data.
1. Individual account deletion (students, parents, teachers)
If you are an individual user (student, parent, or teacher), your account is provisioned by your school. To delete your account:
- Ask your school administrator to remove your account — this is the fastest path, since your school controls account provisioning.
- Alternatively, email us at the address below with your registered email and school name, and we will coordinate deletion with your school administrator.
2. School account deletion
A school administrator can request deletion of the school's entire GyanMul account by contacting info@gyanmul.com. We will confirm the request with an authorized representative of the school before proceeding, to prevent unauthorized deletion.
3. What gets deleted, and when
- Personal profile data (names, contact details, credentials) is deleted from active systems within 30 days of a confirmed request.
- Uploaded files (photos, documents) are deleted from storage within the same window.
- Data may persist in encrypted backups for up to 90 days after deletion from active systems, after which it is purged as part of our normal backup rotation.
- Academic and financial records that a school is legally required to retain (e.g. for statutory record-keeping) may be retained in anonymized or restricted form even after an individual account is deleted, consistent with Section 10 of our Privacy Policy.
4. Exporting your data before deletion
We strongly recommend exporting any data you wish to keep before requesting deletion, since deletion cannot be undone once our retention window has passed. See our support articles for how to export your records, or contact us for assistance.
5. Deletion requests via app store channels
If you installed GyanMul through the Google Play Store or Apple App Store and wish to delete your account, use the in-app account deletion option (Settings → Account → Delete Account) where available, follow the process in Section 1 or 2 above, or use our dedicated Delete Your Account page, which includes a direct request form. This satisfies platform requirements for an accessible, documented account and data deletion path.
6. Contact
To request deletion, contact info@gyanmul.com.
